Tips on using the Swindon U3A Activities Summary page

Introduction

The objective of this page is to give a quick summary of all the activities.  The page is organised in three ways,

• by day
• by morning and afternoon within the day by the colour of the background
• by 'subject', with similar types of activities being grouped together.  Occasionally a subject may be not too well related to its fellows.

The subject groupings are not in any particular order, but each grouping is identified by a coloured bar at the left and right of the page.  A printable version of the summary page can be found by clicking on the link to the right of the one used to show this page.

Each activity is a link to another page which is based on the groupings of activities.  On this linked page (an example is shown below)  you will find details for each activity,

• The name of the activity
• A link to further information (if set up) such as a programme, will be found in the top left hand corner of the table for each activity
• When it is and how often (weekly, monthly etc.)
• Where it takes place - this is also a link to a location map for the venue.
• Who runs its and an e-mail address for enquiries
• A brief summary of the activity's objectives
• Whether the group is full or has places

Please note that there may be several activities on each of these pages (listed in day then time order) and you may have to scroll up and down to find the one you want.

This group covers anything scientific or technical. Members help to research selected topics and present them to the group for discussion.

Alternatively the link in the activity cell on the main activity index page, e.g. Line Dancing , will take you directly to the specific information for the activity, such as the programme for that activity.

Finding an Activity

This will vary according to the browser you are using, but if you do not know where the Text Find function is located a good start will be to press the CTRL+F keys.  If the Text Find function is not visible by default, this will almost certainly activate it in a pop up window or an extra box in the header of the browser.  Type the word you want to find and then either press return or click on the Next button.  This technique for finding a word will work with most PC applications.
